Monferrato is distinguished by great biodiversity, and it is common to find vineyards side by side with hazel groves.
This is the case with Cascina La Badia’s youngest barbera vines, whose grapes are used to create Barbera d’Asti DOCG Ninssola.
Not coincidentally, the name means “hazelnut” in Montegrossese dialect and refers to the roundness and crunchiness that the nearby hazelnuts give this wine.
Sight
It is an almost impenetrable carmine red with purple highlights.
Nose
The scent is very intense and ranges from small red fruits, cherry, and plum to violet and rose.
Taste
It is substantial with velvety tannins and characterized by an exuberant freshness.
Pairing tips
Ninssola at the table is absolutely across the board. We have tested it with fish (amberjack tartare and fried anchovies – blasphemy?), with myriad first courses, with meat main courses (grilled, roasted, sautéed), and with cheeses and cured meats. It has never let us down.
To avoid: coquillage and desserts.
It’s your guy if…
…You seek wines with a fresh and fruity character, structured, with the frown of important wines.
