The story on the label
The first image is that of a man with dirt on his hands, his back bent with fatigue.
He knows what a plow is, what a cart is for, when to use the press. And precisely because he knows it so well, he understands that putting all of his trust on the land is not prudent.
So, one day – at the age of 32 – the man rearranges his thick beard, puts on a bow tie and goes to town.
At the notary in Canelli he creates his small business: a winery. Now, besides being a farmer, he is also a merchant. A bourgeois.
He probably doesn’t even know the meaning of these words – merchant, bourgeois -.
On the way back home, in his mind, there are other words. Few, always the same: hill, pass, sea. Again, in order: hill, pass, sea.
When he gets home, he goes straight to the stables. He puts a pair of Percherons in front of the wagon and drives off. From the Alta Langa he arrives at the pass of the hills. He crosses the pass and heads towards the plain.
From there, the coast always on his left, he goes on. Passes the border. And when the dawn of the next day rises, he finally stops. In front of the sea.
He fixes his tie and begins. That morning, he sells the first bottle of wine. On the label is his name: Pietro Bosca. It was 1831, the beginning of everything.
