Alessandro Rivetto makes two Barbaresco wines, both with grapes from the Montersino vineyard.

For his classic Barbaresco DOCG they use clusters from the west side of the vineyard, which get sun until evening.

Here the soil is slightly darker and gives body to the wine, making it already ready to drink with the canonical 18 months of aging in wood and the 12 in the bottle, as the specification requires.

Because the soil is richer in water and less steep than on the south side, it differs from Barbaresco DOCG Montersino in that the vine “is a bit more comfortable” and the aromas are less pronounced.

Still, it remains an excellent, austere and extremely versatile wine.


It is ruby red, with slight garnet hues.


We mentioned that it is less fragrant than Barbaresco DOCG Montersino: do you still detect ripe cherries, tea leaves, rose petals and mineral notes?


Severe, ripe tannins, fresh acidity and round, feminine structure.

It is incredibly fine, balanced and the finish is long and persistent.

Pairing tips

Alessandro calls it the best wine for the whole meal, even if it’s rather expensive.

You can also pair it with dessert, but the right kind: choose hazelnut cake.

    Vinification (Wine-making)

    Method: After the stalk removal and cold pressing for two days, the fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. The duration of maceration is about 20 days.

    Shipping & Delivery

    The order is processed on the same day if executed and paid by 12.00 pm. The courier picks up the parcels the day after the order is processed (excluding: low cost delivery and Extra EU).

    As long as the package is not taken over by the courier, the indications provided by the carrier regarding the presumed delivery date are estimated and will subsequently be confirmed by the courier.

    Quick delivery — I’d like to receive my package as soon as possible

    If you intend to buy products from a single manufacturer or if you want to quickly receive products from different manufacturers (with separate packages, shipped directly by the producers):

    • Italy → UPS Standard, delivery within 2 — 3 working days
    • EU Area → UPS Standard, delivery within 3 — 6 working days

    If you want to buy products from different manufacturers and receive them in one delivery:

    Following the order processing, the bottles are collected to be packed in the least number of packages and processed with a single waybill.

    Extra EU orders

    Following the order processing, the goods are delivered to MBE who will process the order by selecting a carrier and following the regulations in force.

    We are very careful about the quality of the packaging, to avoid problems during shipping.

    For the bottles we use packages that are suitable for transport, which keep the contents still. You may receive two different types (both very valid and chosen according to the regulations of the shipping countries):

    • polystyrene structure inside cardboard boxes
    • cardboard structure and boxes

    As for gastronomic products, these are also shipped in cardboard boxes with bubble wrap or air cushions inside.

    The available payment methods are credit card, PayPal or bank transfer.

    Credit Card

    By choosing credit card, the payment is immediate and safe. It occurs through a secure connection that protects your data, which is encrypted during the transaction.


    Also the PayPal option is immediate. In this case, if you have a PayPal account, your card details remain hidden. The system redirects you to the PayPal site, where you will be asked to log in directly with your credentials (email and password).

    Bank Transfer

    By choosing the bank transfer you end up having longer processing times for we must make sure that we have received the payment, before shipping the goods. This payment method is also safe, but if you are in a hurry to receive your products we recommend choosing an alternative payment method.
