Colla is the geographical mention of Fabrizio’s most historic vineyard, to which he is emotionally attached.
This is where it all started: his father not only passed on to him his passion for viticulture, but also gave him this plot, whose vines are now more than fifty-five years old.
Colla is a very perched hill, facing west: its position and the age of the vines are the perfect combination to obtain grapes that give the wine great concentration and structure.
The two-year ageing in wood, when done properly, enhances the nebbiolo and unleashes its hillside identity. Fabrizio jokes that his Roero DOCG Colla has the charm of a fifty-year-old!
Sight
Admire its intense garnet-red hue.
Nose
You feel it intense and enveloping, with interesting notes of rather pronounced spices. Hints of pepper, cinchona and an irresistible touch of rhubarb peep out.
Taste
The good structure of this wine offers a crescendo of flavours, including blackberry and raspberry. The powerful, austere tannins prolong the sensations in a lingering finish.
Pairing tips
Fabrizio loves it with red meat, braised meats and especially cheek.
It’s your guy if…
…If you are passionate about nebbiolo-based wines and wish to break away from the classic canons of Barbaresco and Barolo. A glass that offers identity and personality, like the hill from which it comes.

Io ho lasciato la bottiglia aperta un’oretta per far ossigenare quel poco che basta… è un vino (che vino!) ha una forte e persistente tannicità… sentori di viola e cannella
