‘Nciarmà in Piedmontese dialect means mighty, robust.
This Roero could not be called otherwise: it is full-bodied and complex, while still remaining a rather adaptable wine. It ages in barriques and tonneaux for about 24 months.
Curious about the history of Roero DOCG Francesco Rosso? The first one came out in 2014, a particularly difficult vintage because it was very rainy and the first in which Maria joined the winery.
Maria explains that, because of the rain, many of the vines contracted diseases and the grapes took longer than expected to ripen.
Very few crates were harvested and the grapes had to be sorted one by one. The hard work and fear of losing everything paid off: the Rosso family recanted once they tasted the wine.
Sight
It is orangey garnet red.
Nose
It is intense and structured with hints of violets, red fruit compote and pleasantly spicy.
Taste
The palate is broad, complex, pleasantly tannic and very persistent.
Pairing tips
It is perfect with roasts, of all kinds. Maria makes one with extra virgin olive oil. Have you ever tried it? She explains that she cooks it at a low temperature, covered with equal parts oil and water. When it’s cooked, she adds a creamy Grana Padano sauce.
It’s your guy if…
…You look for a good full-bodied wine to go with your favorite dishes.
