The moscato vineyard is located in San Rocco Seno d’Elvio, in the Montersino cru, a typical Barbaresco area. When Alessandro bought the winery, those vines were already there, and if they had not been, he would have planted them.
It is unusual for a Barolo and Barbaresco winemaker to devote valuable space to non-nebbiolo vines in such prestigious cru, but he wanted to differentiate himself and create something that few in that area produce: Moscato d’Asti DOCG.
And he succeeded well: the calcareous clay soil makes this wine fragrant and suitable for aging of about two, three years, unlike other Moscato wines that have shorter lives.
A wine that surprises and is worth tasting.
Sight
It is more straw-colored than traditional Moscato. The color has bright, golden reflections and the perlage is fine, lively and persistent.
Nose
The calcareous clay soil gives aromas of yellow peach skin and honey. It is intensely aromatic and delicate.
Taste
The flavor is sweet, very harmonious, with the right balance between acidity and sugars.
It is not cloying at all because it reaches the perfect alcohol content without added sugars.
Pairing tips
Alessandro recommends it in two versions: paired with chocolate peaches for dessert or, if you want to try a savory variation and go against the usual beliefs, accompany it with Gorgonzola, Mascarpone and walnuts.
It’s your guy if…
…You won a game of scopa! According to Alessandro, Moscato should be drunk while playing cards, and we like to be able to recommend it to you.
