It is intense and enveloping, with interesting notes of rather pronounced spices. Hints of pepper, cinchona and an irresistible touch of rhubarb peep out.

Its good structure offers a crescendo of flavours, including blackberry and raspberry. The powerful, austere tannins prolong the sensations in a lingering finish.

Fabrizio loves it with red meat, braised meats and especially cheek.

Munbèl is a fancy name that in Piedmontese dialect means 'beautiful mountain', a pleasant hill, hence a beautiful view.

Just like the San Michele hill, in Canale, where Fabrizio has been cultivating the vines that yield this Barbera for about 30 years.

As it is an old vineyard, grape production is limited, but the quality is excellent and the abundant clay content gives structure to the wine.

Fabrizio ages his Barbera in barriques for a year, but the wood is almost imperceptible and the result is amazing.

Sight

It is beautifully coloured, ruby red.

Nose

The scents evoke undergrowth and black cherries. A light dusting of spices arrives at the finish.

Taste

Powerful, yet soft, with flavours reminiscent of ripe red fruit, sweet and fleshy cherries. The finish is persistent.

Pairing tips

This is the aperitif wine in spring and summer: it is low tannic, easy, friendly and immediate! Shall we then talk about the pleasant hint of fruit?! Well, all you need is an appetiser to enjoy it.

If you then want to move on to the first course, choose it not too savoury or spicy. Fabrizio recommends tajarin with meat sauce.

Bastia is the name of a hill in Vezza d'Alba, which in 2017 was recognised as an additional geographical mention for the Roero appellation. This detail makes Fabrizio very proud.

Here the soil gives great satisfaction: the richness of sand gives his Roero Arneis a more pronounced structure than usual.

Sight

It is straw yellow.

Nose

The bouquet is very intense and persistent with hints of apricot and apple, final notes of chamomile.

Taste

In the mouth it is savoury, well-structured and harmonious.

Pairing tips

It is a wine with a good structure, so it will win you over with first courses. The best are those of our tradition, such as plin with three roasts and tajarin butter and sage.
