The Cascina La Badia team bet on chardonnay grapes, and the white soils rich in limestone marl on which the vineyard was planted did the rest.
The result is a full, fresh and structured white, vinified partly in steel and partly in small wood.
The name of the wine, I Gelsi, is not random: a row of centuries-old mulberry trees, historical memory of a past of silkworm farming, runs alongside the vineyard.
Sight
It is silky straw yellow and slightly charged.
Nose
The scents are typical ones: white flowers, acacia honey and hawthorn.
Taste
It is full and structured, with a pleasant fresh streak that sustains it and makes it very persistent. The finish is savory and saline.
Pairing tips
Its versatility allows you to drink it during aperitifs and move on to the table with ease. You can pair it with fresh cheeses, fish, pasta dishes (even savory ones).
To avoid: desserts.
It’s your guy if…
…You love elegance.
