In the Serralunga d’Alba parcel, between the Briccolina and Serra crus, grow the nebbiolo grapes used to make this fantastic Barolo.
Here the soil is lean, rich in marl and gives the wine an orange color.
In addition, the vineyard is rich in sage and mint, balsamic scents that can be found on the nose and that Alessandro says come from the soil and not from the containers used for aging. These give a fresh, young and pleasant drink.
Alessandro, speaking of Barolo Serraluga adds, “anyone who says they know about this Barolo is a liar. Tastes are really disparate, and to know it well one must have an indecent historical memory and an over-the-top nose.”
It is garnet red with orange hues.
The scent is ethereal, pleasant and intense. Do you, like Alessandro, also sense the balsamic notes?
It is austere but velvety, robust and harmonious. The tannins are sweet and soft, a characteristic that makes it truly elegant.
Alessandro recommends it with butter and sage ravioli.
He knows that it is not obvious to propose a first course in combination with a Barolo, but he insists on the balsamic hints due to the sage, so he thinks it is a perfect match.
It’s your guy if…
…You want to feel sophisticated and mysterious. It’s the perfect wine if you want to brag a little!
