The grapes of Barolo DOCG Lazzarito are east-facing and give an exaggeratedly full-bodied wine.
Could this be due to the vineyard’s thriving soil? It is said that the mention Lazzarito came about as a reminder of the old lazaretto in the village of Serralunga d’Alba and, according to Alessandro, in the past some bones must certainly have been buried nearby.
Winemaking is also fundamental: Alessandro “forgets” the must on the pomace, so he gets a long-lived product that can last up to 50 years.
It is a very concentrated garnet red.
You feel it ethereal and pleasant, intense with hints of spice and licorice.
It is austere but velvety, robust and harmonious.
Elegant and powerful, the tannins are sweet and soft and the persistence is long.
Try it with bollito (boiled meat), specifically with the head: the tannin will work as “fat-cutters” in your mouth.
It’s your guy if…
…You want to win easy when you are invited to a friend’s house.
